February 26, 2017 (Special)

What you should give up or take up for Lent:

  • Snacking between meals.
  • Social Media.
  • Listening to music in the car. (Pray instead.)
  • Texting instead of talking.
  • Not inviting your friends to Mass.
  • Disrespecting your parents or employer.
  • Wishing for someone else’s life, relationship, or possessions.
  • Only talking to Jesus when you need something or feel like it.
  • Pray the Litany of Humility every day.
  • Being selfish. Give away something every day: time, money, or possessions.
  • Don’t buy anything besides the essentials during Lent.
  • Give up TV, go for a walk, and pray a rosary.
  • Write 40 affirmation notes or a note every time you slip up and gossip.
  • Impure thoughts, words and actions. Enlist an accountability partner.
  • Using the Lord’s name outside of prayer. Repeat Ephesians 4:29 every hour.
  • Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy every day.
  • If you’re judgmental, pray for every person you see.
  • Do an examination of conscience every night.
  • Using words that don’t glorify God or praise others.
  • Dirty and hurtful jokes.
  • Eating meat.
  • Not apologizing when you should because it’s hard to admit you’re wrong.
  • Making excuses to not go to daily Mass or Confession.
  • Sugar and/or creamer in your coffee.
  • Buying spiritual books and not reading them.
  • Not asking your favorite saints to intercede for you.
  • Pulling the victim card when things go wrong.
  • Pretending you don’t have time to go to Adoration or pray.
  • Refusing to recognize God in your neighbors and family, even the annoying ones.
  • Hiding your faith from those around you. Share what God is doing in your life and glorify Him these 40 days.
